Speaking of Australia, do you guys have any beer that doesn't suck? I don't get it, but Fosters is really popular here and it's terrible.

Sorry Glutton I'm really not the person to ask. All beer tastes like it came from a urinal as far as I'm concerned. I'll also point out that Fosters has been owned by America for the last quarter of a century. Paul Hogan was the last Australian to have much to do with Fosters and I believe he's been living in America since Crocodile Dundee 2 anyway. But yeah, I hate hops and anything made with it, so beer rates pretty lowly to me no matter where it came from.

Well, point the way. There may be hope for the stuff yet.

It's rare to find beer without hops, but possible. Dogfishhead makes one, Hoegaarden doesn't have any, and a few others. You get a lot more options if you can handle it being brewed with a little bit of it but not being able to taste that bitter, hoppy flavor. If you can do that, any wheat beer would be good. A lot of dark, malty beers might work for you, too, like Left Hand Milk Stout. Once you get into Imperial Stouts, though, you get both high malt and high hops. Milk Stout is more creamy in flavor and Oatmeal Stout is a good one as well that's got a really nice texture to it. Neither will taste hoppy.

There's stuff called sheaf wheat where I work. I might give that a whirl. I tried Guiness once before, that was horrible. It's so damn thick, I understand why the Irish call it a food group.

There are different Guinness recipes. The easier to drink Draught, the thicker Extra Stout, and the Foreign Extra are available here. I love the Foreign Extra. It's thick for sure, but not as thick as the Extra Stout.

HAHAHA Fosters.....no one down here drinks it. We just export it lol! It is actually quite hard to find it to buy. Its not popular. The main ones are Victoria Bitter, Carlton Draught, Tooheys New, XXXX (Four X), Boags, Castade, Coopers, Crown Lager and Hahn. Plus great boutique beers like James Squires and Little Creatures.
American beer tastes like favoured water! And Aussie beer has a stronger alcohol content:)

I've never tasted Australian urinal water, so I don't really have anything to associate it with.

LOL! Honestly Millers and Bud taste like flavoured water! I like a stong flavoured beer, you cannot beat an Australian Lager, English Ale, Irish Stout or a German beer like a wheatbeer or Bock. Beer is my thing.......and I have the beer gut to prove it though I am trying to lose it haha

Don't worry Glutton it's just my way of differentiating between beer flavours.

I love Belgian Ales. I also just made a drink thread separate from this on the General Discussion Board.
