Is it a good idea to shave your arms, legs and body for your training? I've been watching training videos on Youtube and I've noticed that not a single one of these professional fighters or amateur fighters have any hair on their arms or legs or body. I even look back and remember that a lot of guys in Taekwondo and Karate didn't have hair on them.
How would shaving help with training or fighting? Apart from irritating your opponents skin lol.

A lot of fighters shave up, a lot don't. I figure it's just about looking good when they come out on camera. I don't shave anything and none of my gym members seem to either. A lot of European fighters don't shave. Seems to be a bigger thing in the Americas.

I shave my head regularly......only reason cause then nasty shit from the mats gets in my hair and its gross. Plus I just like the look. I notice alot of fighters shave their pits....I don't know why, I think that's kind of stupid, as well as the shaving of arms and legs.

I tried shaving my chest when I was a teenager and F that. Made me feel like a baby. Never again unless it's for medical reasons.

I shave my head too, I suppose an advanatage is you can't have your hair pulled?
There's that scene where Chuck Norris fights Bruce Lee, and Bruce pulls Chucks chest hair-
I don't know why so many people hold these films in high regard though, the fight scenes are crap imo

^ For their time, those fight scenes, specifically Bruce Lee fights, they are very modernized and a little more realistic than typical action films.
Anyway, I also tried shaving when I was a teenager. Shaved my legs and arms but I ended up missing some patches and people noticed I shaved. It wasn't so bad though. I was told I should keep shaving because it looked good.

after one of my teaches grabbed me by the beard and throw me i shaved. all i remember is his comment "and if he has a beard" and then hitting the wall followed by the floor.
hair pulls can be painful the beard is the third most painful one the underarm the second, had some one pull that on me too. i can only imagine the most pain one

I don't know why they have shaved. Most likely it is a personal choice. I just shave my head and underarms. I keep the beard trimmed low. I do teach my students that id they have hair to pull it. It will help you escape, or to get control. Yes it can cause some pain.
I've never heard that about which areas cause more pain. Now I;m wondering what is the most painful spot since Kokoro didn't tell us what that is???
I have an idea...lol

I don't shave, but I trim everywhere , I'm pretty hairy, every once in a while I would roll with a girl, and I don't want them to be grossed out. It feels cleaner too. Does anyone remember when Andrei Arlovski was hairy? He was a beast, after he started shaving his body is like he lost his powers, became over-cautious, and being KO'ed often. I know it has no co-relation, but I think it's funny

Frank,
Maybe he is like Samson. He lost his strength when he lost his hair. LOL It more to that story than that. But I'll let that go...

We Portuguese people are very hairy. I trim my legs and I keep my hair (on my head) to a low.

I think it's kind of relative to the amount of hair the person in question possesses. I shave my chest because I've never managed to grow more than sparse hair there and that make me look like a teenager. If I was could grow a decent amount of chest hair I wouldn't bother.

I don't think there was a rule about bumping topics so here it goes lol I shave my pits because when you wear a tanktop it looks a lil gross if there is glumps of deoderant.
