i think we have seen this "my art is too deadly for sparring/full contact combats" stuff. well, lets imagine its true, and everything they do is really deadly, to be used. then would it be a good martial art to learn? i mean even in self defense situations, more like 95% of the time, you wont kill your oponent, or wanting to get them really hurt(this ones on a lower %). of course i think that such an art would be really popular among armed forces, and i would totally wanted to learn it, but i would take muay thai, kick boxing or boxing also, since i dont want to go around killing every poor man that acted stupid for a moment. so without further ado, the question, if their art is so deadly that you can not win a fight without seriously hurting or killing your opponent, would it be worth it to be learned by a common dude as his/her only style?

I'd prefer a martial art that could disable but not seriously injure an attacker 100% of the time to one that could kill and permanently put an end to an attacker 100% of the time. For me, the entire point of learning a martial art is to learn how to disable an attacker with reasonable force and to be able to do so confidently and with minimal injury to myself. If somebody is attacking me with a weapon, I won't be using an unarmed form of self defense. I'll be placing shots center mass to the best of my ability until the attacker goes down. But if I'm attacked with bare hands, I want to put my attacker down safely. I don't want to live life knowing that I took the life of somebody for swinging their fists at me. For all I know, I could end up fighting some guy who's down on his luck and living a tough life who just had too many drinks and really just needs help. There are people who have no issue with taking the life of any attacker they run into regardless of the circumstances. I'm not one of those people, and I consider those who are to be sociopaths to some degree.

Martial arts are not for just fighting. It is for self defense. Not just some random stupid bar fight with some drunk. You martial arts should be used to stop or end a threat that would cause you are you loved ones harm, serious injury or lid life threatening.
If my life or my family life was in danger I would not hesitate using deadly force. If some stupid jerk is just trying to be macho in most cases I'll just walk away. If he were to put his hands on my I would probably just injure him. That situation would not warrant deadly force. If some broke into my home I'd probably shoot them. If none of my guns were close enough I'd use my training to end the threat. In my opinion if they have broken into my home they are there to cause serious harm and or death to those that in legally in my home. I was told many years ago by an officer that a thief is most likely going to be armed and will use their weapon. I have to be prepared or better prepare for that.
I have never heard of anyone that says their art is too deadly. We teach that fighting is the last thing that one should ever do. If there are no other options meaning your life and or well being is in danger that is the only time you should engage in a fight.
Most people do not show you that they have a weapon until it is too late. Like once the knife is in your side or like when I was younger and a gun was put to my head. I was approached from behind. There were many people around. I never thought someone would do something like that especially in a crowded place.
In regards to the armed forces knowing that deadly art. They do learn some of the techniques from these art. But there is not enough time for them to learn the entire art. Also, the armed forces don't expect or plan to be in too many hand to hand combat situation. Therefore the bulk of their training will be on the use of weapons. Very little time in comparison will be spent on what to do when they have lost their weapons.

I have never heard of anyone that says their art is too deadly. actually this is quite the purpose of this thread, to mock people that says "my Style lost because it is too deadly to be used in the cage" so then, if they art is so deadly that you cant use it on a cage would it be good to learn it?, since it seems impossible to use without seriously hurting or killing your opponent

If my life or my family life was in danger I would not hesitate using deadly force. Neither would I. Keep in mind that my post was hypothetical, IF it were possible to stop a threat non-lethally 100% of the time. But it, of course, isn't. That said, while I am prepared to do whatever is necessary, I really would prefer not to have to. Even if somebody is directly coming at my family, while I would do whatever necessary and use deadly force without hesitation, it would not satisfy me to have taken another persons life.

I've heard that Kalaripayattu, Kapu Kuialua, and Muay Boran are some ancient deadly arts...
