Welcome. Many of you are coming from Yahoo Answers, and others are coming from elsewhere. For a long time, many martial arts boards have been plagued with trolls, n00bs, and divisive politics. This makes it difficult to have a real discussion. But its not enough in my opinion, to just create a plain old martial arts board. You could go anywhere for that.
So thats why I created The Caged Dojo. A combined forum made for both Traditional martial art practitioners and Modern martial art practitioners to discuss martial arts, without running into trolls or beginner questions. In this forum you'll see a board marked THE WARZONE. This in my opinion makes the forum unique. This is where modernists and traditionalists can come to battle it out. Expect things to get ugly in there. But the overall goal of this forum isn't to divide, but to be inclusive....which is why this forum will seek to be as unbiased as possible. But if arguing theory isn't the thing for you, then feel free to check out the separate traditionalist/modernist or general martial arts boards.
What's neat about the fourm, is the added customization given to you. Sites like YA! didn't give you much as far as customization and personalization of your profile. Now you can add signatures, and bigger avatars and you will also be given a belt ranking. It increases with your post count. And so that you aren't missing out on the YA! experience, you'll notice you are given the thumbs up/thumbs down tools. This time however, it isn't anonymous, so you'll have to be more frugal with how you use it.
Now as I stated above, this forum will not be in favor of either traditionalists or modernists, and thats what makes us unique. Any other forum you visit, whether its Sherdog, or Yahoo Answers, will be dominated by a certain group of martial artists. This doesn't promote discussion, it hurts it. But at the same time, inclusion can make certain users uncomfortable. For those of you that don't want to see all the UFC questions, or the kata questions....or maybe your just sick of seeing the same regurgitated material day after day, then the Caged Dojo is for you. You will be both safe and unsafe to discuss anything martial arts related here.
Welcome to the Caged Dojo.
