For the ones that do train and have training related questions. Why don't you ask your coach or sensei or what ever you call him before coming here? No disrespect to the site creators or admins i enjoy helping people out a little bit but sometimes i just wonder.

I wonder that too man. I really do. And I think sometimes the answer is obvious that they don't have a coach or a gym they could ask. They likely train at home.
That's not always the case. Sometimes its just better to ask a stupid question to a bunch of people you don't know on the internet, as opposed to real people that you know.

This is also the Google era. I think any meaningful discussion between real life people will soon be phased out, because in the end, you can always just google it.

I do think that the idea of stupid questions, or most questions being asked to strangers on the net is easier than looking dumb to one's teacher, and immediate fellow students.

Sometimes I like to get input from other people, and it's really just as simple as that. Different gyms and styles have different variations of techniques. Finding out what somebody else is doing might actually help me learn a way to do something that I prefer to the way I was doing it. For example, maybe somebody throws a straight knee without raising onto the ball of the foot and finds that it has more power for them and they recommend giving that method a try. Who says it won't work better for somebody who may not have ever even thought of trying to knee flat footed? (I know, silly example, but still)

Convinience probably, you can't be around your instructor 24/7, so it's helpful to have you guys to ask whenever if your unsure.

Some people trained one style before and do a different style now but still have questions about there old style they can't get any input from their new school.
A good example is I'm at an mma gym right now and if I ask anything about wing chun I always get the same answer, "wing chun is for queers & commies which one were you again?" so I'm better off not asking them anything that's not related to catch, bjj, mt or boxing because they don't know anything about anything else.

I ask for different reasons. Sometimes, it's because the answer I get from my instructor I don't believe (eg, history); sometimes, he's not here (eg, 3:00am); sometimes, I ask out -of-style questions (eg, Karate - I practice Taekwondo and my instructor knows nothing of karate); sometimes, I want opposing answers or a discussion or a different point of view; sometimes, it's to find out who knows what - like a sacrifice.
But sometimes, you can just tell that someone's got homework to do and are lazy, or are afraid of their instructor, or are watching DVD's or reading books. I don't mind, more than occasionally someone with a brain answers and then I learn something new. And that's the thing: these kinds of questions are perfect for the newbie section.
Remember, what is a dumb question to one person can be informative to another. Trolls sometimes have a modest purpose in life - like krill...
