You haven't even scratched the surface with that list. There are shitloads more styles. Plus it all comes down to the fighter and what works best for them. So far, I've had the most success in boxing with Peek-a-Boo.

For boxing, arms close together (like I'm squeezing my pecs, elbows down, similar to peek-a-boo

stances make you predicable, its best to use multiple stances and change between them.

Due to the nature of the thread, I've moved it here. That is not to insinuate that anybody here is a n00b, but such basic questions should be asked here. The boxing thread does need some activity, but let's make sure that activity fits there better (i.e. upcoming fights, discussing older fights, etc...)

This would largely depend on the situation, for instance, you should not have a boxing stance in Muay thai, as your lead leg is exposed. At the same time you should not have a muay thai stance in boxing, as you would eat uppercuts all day.

good points from frank I don't think there is a universal good stye but if there was one it would be based on perfect time & measure.
measure is the distance between 2 or more objects and their placement to one another
time is how fast you can move which is why a perfect measure is needed so you can move from your angles as fast as possible.
there's more to it too like false times and which I won't go into because I don't even understand them too well except for unnecessary motion is bad like you don't have to parry someones arm 4 feet away when an inch is all you need.

I like a good wrestling stance while boxing. Makes the guy think "what the fuck is this guy doing!?"

If you are talking about boxing I think the philly shell defense is the best if you know how to use that defense. Of course it is not good for everyone, but for those that know how they are very hard to hit.
If you are talking about fighting in general I don't think you should have a stance. I believe in hiding my intentions.

If you are talking about fighting in general I don't think you should have a stance. I believe in hiding my intentions. That's how I feel too except after my initial attack I get into a stance with good measure I call it where moving from one position to another is easy because your set up and you want to set up at least your basic 5 angles so you can cover everything between quickly & efficiently and be highly mobile to gtfo if need be.
