A mate sent me this from my hometown hoping I could find the time to head down and see it with him and some other mates, sadly I'm gonna miss out but they sent me the site to try and egg me into ditching work for the night. Boxing vs MMA...considering the rules does this sound to anyone else like open Judo rules? www.combat8.com.au/

It sounds weird lol
what would happen if a mma guy is a boxer & jiujitero fighting a boxer?
I think the one that knows bjj is at a serious advantage because they allow ground fighting.
And there is really no such thing as a mma style so all the mma guys will be versed in a standup style & a ground style so the boxers are screwed.
I also don't see the point of banning elbows & knees in the clinch if you can still punch unless it's to give the boxers a better chance.
I've never heard of open judo rules so I can't say anything about that.
It sounds interesting though.

I agree the rules favor the MMA people. Most boxer are great at take down or take down defense. It does have sort of a judo rule but it has been altered. In judo you have 30 seconds of fighting on the ground in which to get the submission or pin or you will be stood up to continue the fight. The difference here yo only get 1 30 second opportunity and the rest of the fight must remain standing. This may give the boxer the advantage at that point.
I'm just wondering who are the greatest boxers and greatest mma guys? Is Money Mayweather coming? LOL

Most likely nobodies from Newcastle, Australia. Although Chad 'Hollywood' Benett is from Newcastle, maybe they can drag Elvis Sinosic up from Sydney. My bet is on nobody fighters though.

I'd watch it because I enjoy seeing a good fight with some knockouts or submissions. I like to see some good throws too. I really haven't seen too many good throws in mma. Every now and then an okay to good throw.
