as you can tell im not a big fan of yahoo answers if more people knew about this site i wouldn't go there anymore. but a question comes up that confuses me anything about martial arts "tricking" what is martial arts tricking? and what is the point is it just doing cool spinning kicks for people's amusement? doing something that just looks cool but has no use other than looking cool

yeah it's pretty much acrobatics with martial arts.
a lot of people nowadays cross train certain styles for their flashy moves like taekwondo, karate & kung fu for flying kicks and capoeira for spinning stuff along with break dancing and all sorts of other flashy stuff.

It is not martial arts even though it is being grouped with martial arts. It is just people doing some things that are seen in movies that people think of as martial arts. It is done for show not for self defense. It looks good. The audience is impressed. Judges often score it high because it is impressive looking. But in reality if they are judge a tradition kata it should receive a low score because it has no self defense applications.
