There was one who beat Royce in several grappling matches but lost to him when hitting was allowed, that's the guy who makes me think Royce may have been the best of his brothers at MMA style match-ups.

Actually I was reading some of the bios for why some of the fighters got in on youtube. Some of them were pretty amusing. There were actually two karateka in UFC 1.

Gerard Gordeu the guy who came second was listed as a Savateur and his record said he was damn good at Savate. He was also a Kickboxing champion, Kyokushin Knockdown champion and won several other Mixed Martial Arts tournaments. The guy listed as a Karateka did Kenpo Karate and got his invite because he supposedly stomped the ninja bloke who wrote Bloodsport into the ground in a street fight.

I wouldn't call it boring. Although I missed the groundwork last night. Seems like everybody wants to stand and slug nowadays. Yeah, I know, I'm a striking purist right now anyway, but still.
One thing I have to point out is that in an interview a year or so ago Sonnen said that people who talk a bunch of game and then say after the fight they didn't mean it are pussies. Silva knows he said this before, and yet both of them were much more friendly at the end of the fight. Sonnen's been calling Silva a bitch for years now and he called silva a "True Champion" in the end. It seemed very forced, too. And Silva's attitude seemed pretty forced as well. I can't imagine him actually having Sonnen over for that Barbeque. So neither of them were as real as they'd like us to believe, I think.

You can't force friendship but you can be forced to keep a civil tongue in your head.
