The Silva vs Sonnen fight is the exception.
But overall, the last 12 months has been disappointing. For these reasons- 1. Too many rematches 2. The amount of fighters who back away and dont fight. e.g Carlos Condit and the Greg Jackson camp. 3. Too many lay and pray fighters. 4. Some down right **** fight cards. 5. Most fighters are just generic MMA fighters instead of martial artists like Machida etc. 6. Lack of depth. There are no real challengers at the featherweight, welterweight and middleweight classes. If Jones beats Henderson then count the Light Heavyweight class too. And besides Cain, who can beat JDS?

The onlt thing thats been disappointing are all the injuries and changed cards. That cant be helped though. And I think the sport is starting to fight back against Greg Jackson and his style of coaching (guida/maynard fight)
And while the talent pools are being depleted, faster them they are being replenished, I think that can change soon. The UFC goes through talent cycles.

They need a rule change. I don't mean more rules to make it safer I mean a change in how the game is played out. The unlimited matches were short because people went big and either failed big or knocked their opponent the f**k out. I'd also be keen to see use of tournament style formats when there is no champion. I don't care about Danna White's reasons, they don't outweigh the fact that fighters will use different strategies to win when they have to conserve energy for a possible next bout. It will extinguish the irritation caused when champions like GSP are busted up. Hell, even a mini tournament for a contract is better than what they've got running at the moment.

Pass. My internet is struggling to load up UFC 1 the beginning at the moment. One of the guys I train with was telling me that Zane the Karateka was actually winning his fight against the Kickboxing fellow before he just hacked out and let the other guy bitch stomp him into the floor.

I cannot believe it. He had the bastard doubled over and he just backs away from him and lets him get his wind back. I wonder what happened?

Because they didn't know how would be my first guess. If you don't know how to deal with something it really means you have to make it up on the fly, not an easy thing to do when you're copping a beating in the process. Personally I think it's bull that the Gracies claim Royce was selected because he was the smallest of the Gracie brothers and the worst at Brazilian Jujitsu, my bet is that he was the best at sweeping, takedowns and dealing with striking specialists. A lot of the guys that I practice Brazilian Jujitsu with are constantly irritated that they can beat me in pure grappling but when hitting is allowed I can pound them with little or no space to work and since nobody (me included) is entirely sure how I generate the power it's hard to stop in any way other than grabbing hold of my hands, kind of a bad move for a grappler.
