Depends on the rules & referees qualifications and stuff like that.
If it's back yard vale tudo I suggest you don't do it.

I never recommend fighting in any unsanctioned matches. You don't know what kind of safety barriers and rules they have in place. I've heard nightmare stories about unsanctioned fights, and its just not worth it, in my opinion.

The thing is I'm really down on my luck right now.. I got fired for being hospitalized a month and a half ago(long story) and I really need money.
It's unsanctioned, but they have a referee watching at all times and the fights are closely monitored.

I see this going terribly wrong, and while you think your at bottom now, have your leg, or arm broken,or receive brain damage in which you won't be able to fight, or work...Believe me, you haven't hit bottom yet. And a ref I'm afraid can create a false sense of security. There is so much more that goes into creating a sanctioned fight then just having a ref present. $50 or $100 bucks isn't worth it. If you're anxious to fight, go fight on a sanctioned card.

Just because it's unsanctioned doesn't mean there won't be an absolute headstomper around to grind you into the dust. Find out exactly what kind of people your guy can get hold of before you even continue thinking about entering.

I wouldn't do it, I would try to find a job first.
The risk is too great, no insurance, no doctors, if you get injured you could be handicapped for life.

this a terrible idea. i mean realistically chances are you wont get seriously injured. but i find it funny how u got fired for being hospitalized so you think about doing something that could possibly send you right back to the hospital

1. If you just got out of the hospital a month ago, chances are you are no where near fighting condition, and could either dramatically reinjure or maim yourself.
2. You could work a job and make more money, say pizza delivery, or waiting tables, in a week you would have more cash then that one fight more than likely, and have the side benefit of having money every night to help you get by.
3. Beyond the normal safety regulations that have to be looked for, there are things that a sanctioned match provide that ensure a greater measure of safety, such as blood testing all athletes (how'd you like to have some guy with HIV or Hepatitis bleeding all over you), having adequately trained emergency personell on site, having referees who are trained to recognize signs and symptoms of major injuries or when a fight should stop, (i.e. cut open over the eye), having legit cut men to ensure you are left with obscene scars for the rest of your life.
There really is more to putting on a fight then just gathering crap together and thinking you can put on a backyard MMA fight... not only is it incredibly dangerous, but there is nothing protecting you from a liability standpoint. Not sanctioned means not even if you require stitches will you be covered, every injury from the fight will be on your own dime.
You think you are in a hard spot now, imagine having a 3 grand hospital bill from an ambulance trip, rehydration, and emergency services performed on you (that you would need just if you were KO'd).
Common sense should tell you this is a bad idea, and I heavily question your training if this was an idea you were even remotely entertaining.
