in my gym we have 4 amateur fighters. I used to be number 5 but I stopped. every time i go to their fights I would see a bunch of wrestling. Don't get me wrong I love wrestling striking submissions BUT FUCKING DO SOMETHING. amateur fights are straight up lay and pray. if you want to take someone down look for a submission or hit them at least. My friend got fight of the year in this organization called "dead serious MMA"(promoter said it no one cares enough for them to say anything about him getting the fight of the year) he lost because he got taken down a lot but he got right back up and mangled the other guys face. Is it the same where you see amateur fights?

Yes. Been to several and competed in several. Most Aussies want a knock-out and will take the big risks of striking to get them, lay and pray tends to be relegated to people who simply aren't trying.

Basically? Damn, I thought it was completely non-existent. You Sir are a lucky bastard if your school had a wrestling program. ...or are you partially counting Rugby as wrestling training?

I wish my school had a wrestling program but one of my mates was saying there's a school in WA that with a wrestling program.... and I get stuck with rugby.

We had to suffer a full semester of it. It put me off Martial Arts until I moved and changed schools, one of the guys I made friends with attended a good Karate school, I mocked and he dragged me along. There is a monster gap between good and bad schools.
