Anyone have experiences with the WKA? Good? Bad? For me i have multiple bad experiences. It always has to do with the judges. My gym often competes in Friday Night Fights Muay Thai in New York. The judges are extremely biased and downright ignorant. We are from nj and we have only got the nod from the judges over a new york fighter twice in the last 3 years. and i would say we've been screwed over more than 4ish times. We have even thought about lying saying we are from new york. but last night was the worst. my friend DOMINATED the first round 2nd could've went either way. 3rd friend also dominated. Judges are ruining combat sports.

I think it's a problem all over , we also have guys who fight in muay thai, and sometimes the same thing happens.

It's such a common problem with combat sports, judges are not accountable for bad decisions, they should be fined for things like that.

judges struck again tonight. at least this time. my friend was on the right side of a biased decision. even though this was an mma fight we were already complaining about judges here so i continue. my friend got beat for 4 rounds to 1 in my opinion i could have seen him losing 3 to 2 rounds but shockingly the judges gave him the nod.

What would you suggest for fixing this? I hear and see stories like this too often.

This happens all of the time when there are judges. There are only two ways to stop it that I can think of.
1 stop supporting them financially 2 don't leave it in the hands of the judge

i think judges should be fighters. nothing is going to stop the razor close fights decisions but it would be a lot less screw ups. i also think they judges should be interviewed why they chose which fighter to win the round anyone can puta 10 and a 9 on a piece of paper

I understand jwbulldowgs point, but if you don't support them financially, you are also not supporting the fighters.

I was taught that if you know the judges are going to allow you to win fairly go ahead and knock the guy out. You don't leave it in the hands of the judge. If a judge won't call your point unfortunately someone has to pay for that. That other guy is going to get a whooping. The more they don't give your score your opponent is going to feel the strike/kicks even more. They can't deny the score if he keep getting knocked down from the strikes.
We even had one of our student a girl that was disqualified for excessive contact. They put her in a division with the boys. She had not malice in her kicks, but they were good kicks. This is how we train. She kick him and knock him off his feet. They told her she was hitting the boy too hard. They didn't tell him to move, counter, redirect. This is karate not checkers. She didn't break any bone or draw any blood. If she wanted a trophy we have plenty that we can give her. We love the way that she fought.
Why would I support someone financially that I know is not going to be fair and give me a chance to win. It would be time to organize and sanction your own events that will be done fairly. You don't have to give them your money. It doesn't make since to me to give someone my hard earned money knowing you are going to cheat me.
