I need a few people that are familiar with news that is going on in the traditional martial arts world, that keeps up regularly with this stuff, to PM me. I'm working on a project and I'd like a few of you to be apart of it.

That's going to be a bit difficult. There isn't a TMA world as such, most of them tend not to recognise or care about what others outside their own organisation or even their own school are doing.
The only way you'd really be able to do such a thing would be a daily google search of a heap of style names in hopes of some tidbits that might interest practitioners of that particular style. Maybe we could compile a list and give each moderator a few styles to check out each day or week or month.

Interesting idea. I'd really like to gather a group of maybe 2 or 3 people that want to write for the project I have in mind that can do that for me

I agree with Odee. We don't care about what is going on in other places. I probably should say we. I can only say me. I don't represent all or even most of TMA. There are those that may follow thing going on. You have those the lean heavily on Black Belt Magazine. Personally I don't. I haven't found much in there that was relevant to me.
I don't keep up with national rankings anymore since I've stopped competing. I didn't bother to keep up with it then other than my sensei announcing where I was ranked. I was briefly excited to be ranked number 4 in the country. But afterwards I didn't care that much about it. I was just another student in our dojo. It was no point of telling others outside of the dojo. They wouldn't care or so I thought. Those on my club gave me a pat on the back, but then it was back to training as usual.

I tend to agree with Jw and Odee.
Unless you direct to a person style or organization, you wont get much interest.
take black belt magazine for example. over the decades they never stuck to one style or organization, also even how they changed since the 60's its gotten more commercial then anything
dojo magazine use to be a good one but it never took off. then you have more specific ones which are popular like shotokan magazine. we tried to do a news letter decades ago for different styles and that never took off.
i have noticed over the years some styles are more confined or rather less likely to look out side there own, sado ryu is a perfect example. they are very close nit and rarely go out side there style. some styles or organizations are so includes they keep there training and kata under wraps, they are told not to teach outsiders or post video. i had to ask permission from my sensei to make a video for a person after a seminar that wasnt part of our organization
i would say Odee had the best idea just report other news from other sites
traditional circuit can be very different from the mma circuit, unless you can get someone that is knowledgeable about what i refer to as the open martial art circuit, but even then i don't consider many of them traditionalist. there more of a circus act.

Ugh you TMA guys drive me nuts lol. Well it confused me, because pugpaws2 talked about some master dying, a few months back, And it seemed important to everyone or at least to TMA guys. So thats why that confuses me. But I guess I'll look into it more. But it doesn't seem like anyone wants to write for the TMA side, so I hope I don't butcher it or misrepresent TMA

Pugpaws2 talks and most of the Y! martial arts community listens, he's just got that going for him. Frank is much the same. See if you can get him on board, Chef and Kokoro would be my next suggestions.

Oyata passed a few months back. Is that who you're talking about? He was a master of masters when it comes to Okinawan karate. This is why many people would know about him, and be affected by the loss. He has contributed to the martial art world, most notably through kyusho jitsu. His practices were real, and not the crap you see spewed all over youtube.
Honestly, it's the people like Oyata Sensei, and Hanshi McCarthy, etc who have influenced martial arts beyond their own system where you will see any real importance, and thus interest.
I'm not saying that I really get into the TMA world, other than history... and other minor interests. But, if you are working on anything along those lines, feel free to drop stuff my way. I may take a while to respond, as my life is getting terribly busy as of late, but I will offer any help I can, even if it's only as a resource gateway.

I can't speak for others. But in our organization they keep up with martial artist from many different styles and organization. It is important to them. This is especially true for those that have been around much longer than I. They take pride n honoring those that have made great contributions to the arts. I used to stay away from these organizational things. I was too busy to get that involved with my family, career, church, and work in the community. I think this might be a generational thing. I was encouraged to at least show up to some of the events. Initially I didn't. But after some more strong encouragement over the years I began to participate. I met a lot of people that I won't recognize if I see them again. Guys like Rodrigo Vaghi. I had never heard of him or of I had I never paid attention to it. After meeting him I was impressed with his character and contributions to bjj and mma. Then while doing cardio in the gym I would often watch mma. I began to hear his name or team Vaghi. I realized that I was probably hearing this name before I just hadn't paid any attention. The name was relevant until I met him and was told about his many contributions. But it is not in my character to to know the whose who or the latest thing going on. I can't tell you who are the current big movie stars, singers, entertainers, etc. Sure some names and face I know, but there are so many other A listers that I don't know. Maybe it not a generational thing and it is just me. Some people get more involved in those things and others like me get involved on a limited basis.
