Capoeira has become a joke. After our instructor left to teach the combat applications of capoeira to the international groups, we've been taken over by one of those dance masters who aim to kick air. I don't train martial arts so I can freaking dance my way out of dangerous situation. This instructor spends an hour socializing with her students and shambles through the rest of the lesson and frankly I don't have the patience for it anymore. After the Krus at my Muay Thai gym decided to focus mostly on the competing group, Muay Thai has almost completely broken down. I'm a full-time student with a job, and if I could train to compete I would. Unfortunately I can't, and I don't like the idea of wasting my time on a group that has lost it's potential to teach.
Currently, I have no desire to train at those groups again. It's a shame, because I'm finally able to train properly again after a few months of injury. My question is, should I just give up these martial arts and start something else? I've broken my back on these arts for the last few years and it all seems such a waste, but it's just not cutting it for me anymore.

Wow, sorry to see nobody's been trying to help you with this. Although you really do just have to figure things out for yourself. I'd say that if you don't get enjoyment out of what you're doing anymore then you should move on to something new, but that's totally up to you.

move 100% if it's not gonna pick up. find a school with a good teacher. if the teacher is good, then that means the potential to build up to their level is there. all about the teachers and how they run the classes. mine have gone down hill too lately and i was contemplating leaving. but the style is great just the teacher was getting sloppy. just find sumthing u like and will want to build up. good luck

Well, thanks for the help, guys. I was actually thinking of starting my own Capoeira school, but am I really ready to do that with less than a decade of experience? I have a few mestres who would definitely support me, but I just don't think I'm experienced enough to teach at the moment.
