I was looking at shorin ryu karate and okinawan jujutsu that's taught in the same dojo, I'm 21 years old, are there any others here that take these arts? Are they effective? Also is 21 too old to start learning and become good?

I believe JW Bulldogs learned Shorin ryu, never heard of Okinawan Jujutsu but that's not to say it doesn't exist. Effective depends entirely on you and how you learn to use what you've learned. Dance steps can be effective if you're a capable fighter, a gun is nearly useless if you have bad aim. If you learn to use your style in challenging situations it's all good. The term "You're never too old to learn a martial art" can be applied here.
