I've read a bit about the flinch response recently and wondering if anybody has any experience practicing and whether it is efficient or not. Sounds to be based around self defense techniques launched from natural flinch positions that we automatically go into when attacked. e.g. covering the head with hands. I'm not convinced but i like to have an open mind to others thoughts. My immediate thought is that we train to make sure our body doesn't do natural flinch responses. The other day my partner snuck up on me at 3am when i went to the loo. haha.. Came from a different direction than the bedroom and everything. When i was aware of someone i automatically put a guard up and just about punched her right in the face... in my mind this response was more useful than putting my hands over my head etc. and it was definitely automatic.
