How is Machado Jiu-Jitsu different to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Gracie Jiu-Jitsu?
Philosophy? Techniques?
Is it different or is it just the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu taught by the Machado brothers and their students?

Its the same I think as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Its just the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu that was taught to them by the Gracie family (they are related) but tends towards sport more.

This is something I've found difficult. Ibjjf has a rank req, but different arts come to comps with black, for example, machado jj, or guerilla jj, just as a couple to mention. Heck, shodan in judo? Just call it Kano jj and all of a sudden your a bb at a comp. Never really understood that...

I'll ask my coach. He's a Rigan Machado black belt. He should be able to give a straight answer.

Wow, this really took me a long time. There really isn't any major difference. The Machado family is related to the Gracie family by blood to an extent so either family name is representative of good Jiu Jitsu. Machado Jiu Jitsu is just BJJ under a specific affiliation.
