I posted this on Y!A as well and would like to also post it here. I'm Copy/Pasting it:
"A recently discussed topic had to do with whether or not a "Combat Sport" was as effective with tackling multiple opponents as a "Traditional Martial Art" that trains specifically for multiple opponents and not just one on one. The thing that I find interesting is that I could find 3 videos of Boxers, young and old, defeating multiple opponents in real fights. Here's the actual proof:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=_d3KM_OMO…
www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddzeuA0KT…
www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLxejDX3P…
So here is my challenge: Considering that I have proof here that a style that trains for one on one fights and with a large rule set CAN and IS useful for self defense against multiple opponents in spite of the limitations it has, I would like to see 3 more videos of "Traditional" Martial Arts defeating multiple opponents as well. The first person to post 3 videos of real fights showcasing a TMA of some kind claiming victory over 2 or more opponents AT ONCE will receive Best Answer.
This is all in good fun and not an attempt at trolling. I will be fair and give Best Answer to the first person who can do so as promised. The point of this is because I've heard a lot about how Traditional styles are "Better" for taking on multiple opponents and yet I haven't seen a single valid source to back it up.
Some stipulations: No written material. Only hard proof. Even news articles can contain false reports or embellishments. Only video of actual fights will be accepted. No first hand accounts without proof, either. I found my videos with a quick web search, it's only fair that I receive the same type of proof in return.
I also want to point out that it took me literally under 5 minutes to find the 3 videos I did and I could easily find more.
One more added detail: Yes, I know that Boxing and Pugilism are technically Traditional as well. When I say TMA, I'm referring to the styles that are typically labeled as such. We all know the styles I'm talking about, so let's not look for loopholes or try to dance around the subject please."
Since there is no Best Answer to be awarded here with points, it'll just have to suffice that the first person to post the 3 videos I'm looking for will have no more than the honor and pleasure of winning.
Have at it!
