Good to have you here It's good to have more grapplers on board. Me and Airbender I think are the only real grapplers on here. Feel free to check out our grappling section, post some interesting topics or articles you come across.

Ah yes forgot about Judomofo. I GUESS you could call Judo grappling, but as I recall Judomofo had some pretty good BJJ knowledge as well. So yes I did forget him.

What do you consider grappling? What are the criteria?
BJJ, Judo.....what about wrestling? Freestyle, Greco-Roman, Catch, Shoot, Folk, Collegiate, Scholastic.....other types of wrestling like Shuai jiao..
Hapkido? Aikido? Pro wrestling?

I'm wary of calling Judo grappling because its like calling Judo a striking art. Sure it has punches, kicks and ground work, but most schools barely focus on that stuff. Same with Aikido. Thats the only reason I'm hesitant about labeling it grappling. If your main focus isn't grappling, I'm not going to call you a grappling art.

Ok, a valid point and I agree with you on aspects of it.
So in your opinion, for a martial art to be called grappling then it must have a significant ground fighting aspect?
You don't consider stand up grappling to be real or complete grappling?
What are your views on the ground aspect of wrestling like the Olympic styles, american styles and Catch/Shoot? What about Sambo? They aren't as complete on the ground as BJJ or even Kosen Judo....

There is far more to ground fighting the grappling. grappling is only part of it there is also striking on ground fighting.
grappling by definition is anything involving grabbing your opponent. it can be done both standing or on the ground.
