Looks like I will get this board started too. I found this video while randomly going through Youtube also. This video is pretty crazy.

I think I've seen this before but watching again it still looks pretty insane.
Not to disrespect these guys at all but this video doesn't really prove that these guys are strong fighters, it's just an entertaining demonstration. Nevertheless, huge respect to these guys for their physical and mental conditioning. (the iron rods and the axe in particular were pretty insane)

This is the same act the Shaolin Warrior Monks use - It was cool when they did it and it's cool now. I still have no answer to how on Earth the axe trick works though.

Very cool to look at, but sometimes I wonder what the point of this stuff is. To me, it only serves to act as smoke and mirrors in the martial arts world. "That guy can do a flying spin wheel kick, and can chop a brick in half with his pinky, his style MUST be effective." Don't get me wrong, it takes ALOT of skill to do what these guys do, but they should be in Cirque du Soleil or serve as an opening act to a magician...they shouldn't parade themselves around as martial artists.

I don't know. I wouldn't be too hasty in writing them off, I train Muay Thai with a circus freak and he's tough as nails in a ring, cage or fight.

Even if they are preforming I would not want to fight these guys.

Most Taekwondo practitioners would have some degree of skill before attempting these feats so I think it's fair to say that they can fight.

Yeah definitely. A kick to the head by one of these guys would have you out cold.

those first set of bricks at about 14 secs did they turn to dust? i think they socked them in some kind of chemicals bricks do not turn to dust when breaking them, im also wondering about those tiles at the end
i agree with kw most of that looked like smoke and mirrors to me

I just watched the video again a couple times and it does look like the bricks turned to dust. Even if it were laced with a chemical though, would it completely disintegrate into dust like that?
The tiles at the end are legit, I've seen similar things done in person.

chemicals weaken the brick to a point where it crumbles into dust. depending upon the length of time and type of chemicals.
as for the tiles i'll have to look into that one a bit more. i never cared for breaking tiles and there for never looked into it but for the most part i could teach you how do a lot of them in less then an hour. standing on nails, breaking and standing on glass, breaking bricks on others are fairly simple tricks, the spear bending one has me though. i'm not sure how to fake that one. at least not yet

The rod trick is done with a bent taper on the end of the rod, looks sharp because it's sharpened to a point but the point never actually digs to pierce. It takes a whole lot of practice to avoid getting stabbed anyway, and if they mess up they would probably wear it in the throat. What about the axe trick? Even if there is no substance to the tiles the effect of the axe and hammer alone should have been enough to break skin.

i figured it wasnt sharp, almost any thing can punch through that sample material.
i forgot about that one, thats got me too. i would have died laughing if his arm got hoped off, they mush have dulled the hell out of that axe as well. but still it seems it would have broke his arm at least. i'll have to ask someone on that

I just slowed down the video using a program I have. The ax one was done by as soon as the ax came down, he pulled it up a little and the guy who is "getting hit" is pushed down on the bricks (kind of like a one inch punch but with the wrist) causing them to break. He never actually got hit. Same with the sledgehammer part.
