there is about a hundred styles of Philippine martial arts from my understanding, Kali/Arnis/Eskima are all the same its just the era in which the term was use, escrima came from the spanish meaning sword fighter, arnes comes from spanish for armor i forget where kali comes from
silat that is another headache in itself, it represents about 700 styles throughout south east asia
not all styles were given names, some are just grouped together by region or territory. like karate use to be. so if you trained on island x you may train one style someone else from the island may train another but they were considered the same name. makes researching very difficult

I don't know but I'm curious about this as well, are they simply separated by era of use or do they contain different techniques such as Muay Thai and Boran?

thats about the extent of my knowledge on Philippine martial arts, as far as i can tell the names changes with the language and the time it was taught. but then again i was never really interesting in there history,i just got side tracked for a short time and only looked into it very briefly
