I thought this was pretty great. I never wrestled in high school and know very little about it, and having recently jumped into BJJ I've been taking a greater interest in it. While looking into wrestling I found this link: www.mmafighting.com/2013/3/9/4081332/technique-talk-chael-sonnen-mma-wrestling-interview-takedowns-ufc-newsWhat Chael says about GREAT wrestlers that don't fare well in MMA vs guys like GSP who aren't very good wrestlers but have some of the best takedowns in MMA really caught me off guard as somebody with very little knowledge of wrestling in general. Anyway, enjoy and let me know your thoughts! Since I'm not too knowledgeable on wrestling, for anybody that knows more do you agree with Chael that very little really applies to MMA?

Very interesting article, I'm not too knowledgeable about wrestling either , but he makes some good points.

Plus nobody can doubt that Chael's wrestling for MMA is top notch. I wonder how many fighters would disagree with him, though.

You know, he just used the argument I hate the most - Things are illegal because they're too effective.

But in a way that makes sense. Obviously boxing doesn't allow kicking. What he's saying is that when all elements of fighting are present, some things transfer over and many other things don't.

The two or three moves is an interesting point. I wonder if Miyamoto Musashi only had two or three techniques? Block with one sword, stab or slash with the other...
