Ok is this a McDojo? In 1969 David “Ticky” Donovan O.B.E. 9th Dan founded Ishinryu Karate (which means “all of one heart”). It was based on his training and knowledge of Kyokushinkai, Wadoryu and Shotokan Karate. He trained Wado-ryu under Tatsuo Suzuki, Shotokan under Kanazawa and Enoeda and Kyokushinkai under Steve Arneil. The name came from a Meeting a Japanese Judoka while on holiday, he came up with the name 'Ishinryu' meaning “everybody with one heart”. Donovan asked if there was an Ishinryu style in Japan, and he said no, and Ishinryu was born (not to be confused with the Okinawan Isshin-ryu karate system), recognised by The World Karate Federation. See history- www.ishinryukarate.com.au/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=43&Itemid=42en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ticky_DonovanHere is the website for the dojo near where I live. have a look and tell me if it looks like a McDojo. www.ishinryukarate.com.au/Or would this Shotokan dojo be better? mirandarslyc.com.au/Karate/Shotokan%20Karate%20Home.htm

I'm on my phone so didn't look at the website.
Normally if the Sensei is a 9th Dan I'd call McDojo but seeing as he has a Wikipedia page that's kind of interesting. I'd probably have to look at the website to be sure but at the moment I have no clue whether it is or not. I'll be sure to get back to you once I get onto my computer, I'm actually kind of curious about this guy as well.

@ Frazier, what warrants been called a Mcdojo in regard to this school, havnt really had a look into it but it might come down to what your perspective is. Here are some links from there site www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNakg0ov8CM if this is part of them they looked polish and skilled to me , and they entered in this www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhEZj721Tgc ,so id say they are legit regardless of there lineage, they obviously train to be up to WKF standards of competition.

The Kata in the first video was quite impressive, the obviously put a lot of effort into it that's for sure. You can't base a dojo off it's Kata though and since there was little free sparring in the first video it's hard to tell.
