My mother goes absolutely ape-shit. She usually spends the hour before my session shouting about how I'm going to get brain-damaged and how my nose will get squashed into my face, leading to the logical conclusion that I'll be too unattractive to get married. My dad usually doesn't care, he's more interested in his wine collection. My sister boasts about me to her friends; half of them think I'm a pro boxer when I'm really just an average joe competing in amateur tournaments every now and then when I have time. Funnily enough, my girlfriend gives a total of absolutely no shits. This is probably because she boxes herself and is convinced she could knock me out in a match, despite having no experience in the ring whatsoever.
That's pretty much my summary of what goes on before a match for me.

My parents were usually pretty supportive of it. They liked my Kyokushin teachers and could see the improvements in my balance, flexibility and strength. They came to my matches and tournaments and were the lucky people who got to support/carry me out after my shodan grading. My siblings gave me hell about it,making Bruce Lee noises every time they saw me in my gi.

My parents are the ones that convinced me to take martial arts so they are pretty supportive of it. They don't seem to like it when I come home bruised up haha but they seem fine when I'm bruising up other people.

My parents enrolled me in Karate when I was 6. They knew I was being bullied by one kid, and they wanted me doing an activity of some sort, so Karate fit the bill. I end up quitting at around 16 or 17. And I joined MMA at 19, and they were never terribly supportive or against it. They saw me coming home in with black eyes, bruises and sore limbs and naturally they worried. They were both a wreck for both of my grappling tournaments and smoker fights. It's not that they weren't supportive, they were just worried, I would be too.

My parents don't support it at all. They think it's stupid and ill kill myself. Which really makes me sad because in 16 and love the sport of mma. I was told everyone had a dream and mine for the longed time and still is would be to become a professional mma fighter. Unfortunately I have barely any experience in martial arts and have 0 support from my parents. Hopefully soon I can get a job and pay for classes. I'm pretty lucky my school has a "mma wrestling" club where they just teach wrestling and I made enough money to get a wrestling card so I could at least learn something that could help me get closer to my dream. But it's a hard thing to do by yourself. :/. But I for sure have heart, maybe not enough since I'm not doing all I could to train but riding a bike to a place 2 hours away would be a lot. You all better remember my name so if it ever happens, you can say you knew me
