So we've all had a run in with some asshole at the gym who says "Im the best! im unbeatable and i only train for a month i know all the best styles!" blah blah blah. This thread will be a place where we can talk about and show videos and pics of. It can be anyone from famous guys like Joe Lewis to nobodies like this one dude in my gym who always tries to act like hes the best. Heres a good example of a douchebag martial artist.

There's a guy in my gym, ameteur fighter, who refuses to go easy on the new guys. Drives me nuts. He'll say he's gonna go easy and then as soon as he takes a minor hit he flies off the handle and goes full force. It's ridiculous. Our Kru doesn't want to get rid of him, though, because he wins fights and helps keep our name out there.

Hmmm...that'd be a toss up between me and one of the Brazilian Jujitsu brown belts at the gym. We're both kind of arrogant. I think he's probably more popular than me though. He wins his competitions more often than I do, I only really have a good record for Kickboxing and MMA. He's got an excellent record in Gi and No Gi Brazilian Jujitsu, Judo and MMA. He's a middleweight and I'm a heavyweight so being able to smack him down in MMA really does me no favours, especially since he's a far better grappler than I am even with the weight difference.

I have this older guy who's like 35 guy with a chip on his shoulder and he always goes hard on people but complains when we do it to him.
Like a few weeks ago in sparring he rocked me with a cross and laughed at me which pissed me right off so decided to came back with a sweeping uppercut and floored him and he started bitching about how I tried to knock him out, which I did, but he tried to knock me out to me and I'm there to learn not get a concussion so I decided to teach him something and that was not to fuck with me lol
I don't know what his problem is since I've only been there for a few months but people tell me he's bitter from failing the olympic tryouts 2 times but he doesn't have to take it out on us.

Athletes are kind of like that. They do get upset when things don't work out for them. What they do with that frustration tends to be what seperates those who succeed from those who don't. Athletes who succeed use that frustration as motivation, athletes who don't do that become pissy bullies.

yeah I've seen that before it's not good it's being a sore looser is what it is and it's probably why they didn't accomplish their goals to begin with.

About 10 years ago, my friend introduced me to his friend who runs a Wing Chun class. I haven't trained in years, so I thought it would be a good idea to get back into martial arts again. I was getting into the groove of things. It was not as hardcore as I am used to. I have trained in some crazy Filipino stuff. During the third workout, this teenager wanted to pair up with me for the forearm conditioning drill. I don't remember the name of it. I was in my early 40's at the time. For whatever reason, he wanted to show off to me. Myabe because I wore my hair in a long ponytail at that time. He starts to smash his forearms into mine, a lot harder than the other students are doing it. Fortunately I am used to punishment, so I start hitting him back just as hard. We took a break, and he told me that we have to do it some more, in order to toughen me up. So, this time I started to hit him back harder than he was hitting me. His mouth started to drop because he couldn't believe how much punishment my forearms can take. When I felt that his arms will be sufficiently bruised, I told him, "OK, you win, you're tougher than me." I put some Dit Da Jow on my forearms, and they were OK within a few days. I expected his forearms to be black and blue for the next few weeks.
The teenager asked me what I have trained in, and I told him, just some Filipino stuff, and he told me that he never heard of it. I never went back to Wing Chun after that, not because he physically hurt me, but because a teenager insulted me by telling me that he was going to toughen me up when I went through years of hardcore training.

The people who piss me off are the ones who you beat but try and correct you to get some semblance of power back. My Sifu showed himself showed me a technique, so i started using it then this guy starts saying it's a bad technique just because his dumb ass couldn't get past it.

Two come to mind. One is this dude who was in my BJJ class when I first started back in '09. He insisted on rolling with me, since I was new. I had no clue what I was doing, and he went balls to the wall. He was just rough, and at one point decided it was ok to use my face as a resting post for his knee...afterwards, me and him became friends. But he just had a bad temper. Got kicked out for being verbally abusive to our training partners and for unsportsman like behavior at a tournament, where he yelled at and flipped off his opponent and his opponents coaches.
The other is one of my training partners now. I remember rolling with him the first time. I accidently elbowed him in the face and I immediately apologized and asked him if he wanted to stop. "No keep goin nigga!" he told me. I went on to beat him. He always just had a poor attitude, and no real skill to back it up. Always talked alot of shit. Me and my coach always put him in his place real quickly though.
You just dont see very many real douchebags in professional MMA. They get filtered out quickly because their egos can't handle many losses. Other places, many of them traditional, help douchebags thrive, because often times, it isn't about winning, that gets you far. In many places, all you gotta do is show up.
Good thread btw Rikashiku

For sure that guy- the above clip-had 'issues' MA aint no different from the rest of society thats to say a decent amount of DBs....but just to krank things up a bit have a look at the refs hands/arms during that clip..he extends them in a half-'embracing' gesture like hes ushering the two fighters towards one another ?!? now go watch (any?) pro boxing refs - they bring the fighters gloves together and keep their arms ABOVE the boxers arms...for that exact reason....i thought this was worth pointing out but am sure many will think it wasnt...

I don't like it when people make excuses. These are the people who can't cope with someone being better than they are, so they make all the excuses in the world instead of just saying "Yeah man, you got me." Like a few weeks ago in my BJJ class, I was rolling with a new guy, and after we were done he said to me "Man, if you weren't such a big guy I would've had you." I didn't say anything to avoid conflict, but in my head I was like "Yeah man, I got you because I'm a little bit bigger than you, not because I've been coming here for a year and a half and you've been coming here for 2 weeks." I always go easy on the new guys, but the next time we rolled I made sure to turn it up a notch

I was involved in an intra-school exhibition match at one point. The atmosphere was supposed to be one of lighthearted friendliness. When it came my turn they brought out some guy from a school out in NJ. When I said hello to him he sort of glared back at me and managed to eek out a "wassup". Uh oh. This had all the hallmarks of a classic a-hole. He had much more fight experience than me. Right away you can tell he was there to gloat and strut his prowess. If there's anything I hate more than an asshole it's his super noisy corner. I had three people in my corner while he brought out his entire entourage including his family. They were yelling stuff like "hit him hard" and "kick his ass". Assholes don't fall far from the asshole tree. His first inside round kick rattled me and he landed some heavy hits. I couldn't believe it. I shrugged at one point and asked him "what are you doing man? This is just an exhibition match." Gentleman first, then beast mode afterwards. I did not hold back and really let him have it. I'm sure some of my knees really hurt him and I also threw him on his ass. Seeing how seriously this was getting that's when my Kru stepped in and said that was enough.

This may be gravedigging a bit, but when I saw the name of the thread I thought it was going to be about the Diaz brothers.
