Sorry to hear about you being stabbed. But glad you survived. That is the main thing. We teach it okay to get cut but don't get killed. The objective is not to get cut either, but there is a good chance you will. This is why I don't believe in fighting anymore. Too many variables. You don't know what the other person has. Never stand straight in front of you attacker.
Odee the rep helped me a lot! I was a small guy. I didn't get into too many fights. There were some that wanted to try me, but others would warn them. That usually ended it. I had one more while I was on crutches again. This time I had broken my ankle in judo. I won another fight and trophy after I broke it. I didn't know it was broken. I though I was just hurt. It wasn't much of a fight. One of the guys on the football team that was on the list of guys that could bench over 350lbs was saying some bad things to my ex gf that was walking me to class and carrying my books. We weren't a couple, but we were still fooling around. Usually I'd ignore what others say, but when I don't feel my best it was easier to get me agitated. He said something about me not being able to do nothing because I was on crutches. Then he said he would take my crutches and shove them up my you know what. I was going to walk away. I didn't need to defend her. But now he's disrespecting me too. So I threw one of my crutches near him and told him to shove it. He played around saying some other stuff. I limped over with the one crutch I still had and punched in in the sternum and folded him. He backed up a few feet as he doubled over and dropped my crutch. He slowly backed up the steps holding one hand out making a jester implying he didn't want to continue. I took the wind out of him. I knew I had to. He was too strong for me to be fighting. I wouldn't have done that if I wasn't hurt. I probably would have just talked about his mama or something.

Makes me glad I didn't have a rep. I was a bigger guy but I didn't actually start a martial art until my eleventh year of highschool. Before that I'd done a term of Taekwando but that was so terrible I don't count it. The teacher was always going on about the football team being bad-guys and how he's teaching the students to stand up for themselves. It irritated me because I was on the football team at the time and wondering how he can teach the students to beat the football team when the students are doing kata and non contact sparring while the football team is driving each other into the ground and picking real fights.
