Is it just me or do other people have bad grappling days? I just got out from practice and man.. Even the people I would normally dominate managed to tap me out. I've had 3 bad days in a row and I've even contemplated to stop going all together. But then again coincidentally I ate really spicy food right before each practice and it's made me horrifically sluggish. Regardless, I find that it motivates me. On Friday I went out and ran 3 god damn miles right after practice cause I thought it was my cardio. Turns out its just the spicy crap I eat before practice. Either way, do I take grappling too seriously or do other people get bad days too? Haha

everyone has good and bad days. not to long ago i got subbed by a blue belt. to say the least very bad day. didn't perform well through the rest of the session either. sometimes it is the bad days that help you learn better realize mistakes correct them.

Any grappler will tell you they have had their bad days. And sometimes its bad weeks. I've had days where I wanted to give up and quit just like you. We all have days where we get tapped by people who shouldn't have tapped us. And most of the time we have no control over it. And most of the time it has nothing to do with your technique or your cardio....sometimes it's just pure bad luck.
It's important you don't put blame on anyone or make up excuses. I hate guys, when I beat them, they'll ask me, how much I weigh, or how long have I been training, or tell me they got tired. If you lose, you lose. Accept it with grace and move on. Ego is the biggest factor that determines whether you'll stick with it.

Being just a kid, you wouldn't believe the excuses I've heard after beating older guys. The latest one I've heard was "if I was in my prime like you, I'd put up a good match." Shit man, I'm only 15. If I haven't even hit my prime yet, I can only imagine how devastating I'd be IN my prime.

man I remember when I was 15 lol
I thought I could beat anyone and when I lost I freaked out like wtf I'm the best how did I lose!!!
then reality hit me that I was 15... and then I realized there are people out there doing it longer than I've been alive!
A person new to bjj with a white belt can get in and choke out black belts with ease... if he had 15 years submission grappling experience before he joined bjj but he's still a bjj white belt so you can never be certain of a white belts skills.
