Hello
What are you thoughts on Taekwondo?
Has any trained in it? Was it good or not good?
Please tell me as my Silat school close down and Taekwondo school near to me.
I told that Taekwondo is good with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

you are only as good as your instructor and training, unfortunately tkd does tend to get a lot of mcdojangs. but there are a few good dojangs out there
never sign long term contracts, no place should force you to sign them and in many states their are laws against them as well.
there are about 75 styles of tkd, and tow or three major organizations. i believe ata was a belt factory or mcdojang organization. avoid that one.
an excellent tkd instructor will teach both striking and grappling, these techniques are in your forms.
i personal never took tkd but several of my friends have

TKD, in my opinion, is one of the most efficient martial arts that the West knows about. i have never taken it but i DO know how effective the ability to control distance in a fight is. TKD teaches all the ranges of fighting and makes you a master of it simply because you need to know how far away to kick and you have to know when to stop kicking and start punching. TKD guys are usually very hard to clinch with and very dangerous to not clinch with. check the school out first, because as kokoro stated, most schools suck. but a good one will do you wonders

i say that its a shame that the ATA exists.
fortunatly here in Mexico there are no ata dojangs, maybe that's why in the olimpics we get good places.
think about it, in almost all the sports the usa beat us, but in TKD the story its different, makes you think that the good talents of TKD might fall into the ATA and their careers in TKD get truncated.
