What kind of Kung Fu?
I don't think it's useless, but I also don't think it's the best option for a fighting art. That said, the best workouts I've experienced in my entire life were during training in Long Fist styles of Kung Fu.

well, people usually says kung fu in general.
but if i had to choose one style to talk about it would be shaolin, shuai jiao or tai chi, since those are some of the kung fu styles that I'm interested into

I used to use the argument that if Kung Fu was so useless why have so many styles been derrived from it? Someone then pointed out that so many styles are derrived from it because it never quite worked right as it was. Reverse logic aside. I think there are a lot of Kung Fu styles that are just misunderstood like drunken boxing and animal styles, people seem to overlook the element of surprise that goes missing in an arranged fight when everyone knows what both fighters and that both fighters are fighters. Drunken Boxing is a great example. Even some practitioners seem to miss the point of the stumbling and swaying movements and instead of using them sparingly they wander all over the ring giving their opponent the exact measure of their balance. Their opponent just waits until they get to that point and cheap shots them. First of all who is going to believe you've rocked up to a martial arts event drunk? Second of all Jackie Chan drunken Boxing is purely cinematic. Third of all can being drunk not be replaced by being hurt? Cover a rib and people will go after it. Limp and your opponent will chase the 'good' leg.

no martial art is useless. i really doubt a kung fu fighter no matter what kind will beat another trained fighter like a muay thai boxing jiu jitsu ect fighter. it will work against the average joe

because people are stupid lol why do they eat at mcdonalds when they know its bad for them?
why do they eat steak but freak out about eating dog or cat?
it's because humans are inherently stupid and all we can do to change that is educate ourselves but sometimes education just makes people stupider & more narrow minded.
look at george bush jr he was a university educated man who was dumber than fv(k.
"Let me start off by saying that in 2000 I said, 'Vote for me. I'm an agent of change.' In 2004, I said, 'I'm not interested in change --I want to continue as president.' Every candidate has got to say 'change.' That's what the American people expect." --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., March 5, 2008

Who was it that said "You Americans are a forward thinking bunch and real nice too. You gave that cowboy chap a go at president. Here in England we aren't so forward thinking...we wouldn't trust him with ba pair of scissors".

I know tons about Gongfu. People don't say Kungfu (western way of saying Gongfu) in China, they say Gongfu so just letting you know a little fact. Shaolin isn't a style either. It's a monastery in China where they feature various styles of Gongfu. No style is useless too. Though there are some Gongfu styles I prefer like all 3 internal arts (Baguazhang, Xingyiquan, and Taichiquan), Long Fist, and Jun Fan Gung Fu. The others I don't really care for yet they are not useless.

I hate people who correct my Japanese pronunciation when they know damn well that I struggle with English pronunciation as well. The same rule is going to apply to Cantonese and Mandarin. Honestly if people understand then there is no real reason to worry about it. I don't care if they call it Kung Fu, Gongfu, that Bruce Lee shit, Jackie Channing or Chinese Martial arts. If I understand what they're on about I just give them the answer to the best of my knowledge.

I wasn't talking to you specifically, Odee, I was just saying in general to everyone who doesn't know. It's ok to say Kungfu or Gongfu I really don't give a shit. So don't feel like I was targeting you lol
