odee- I think so it might be a sideways high wheel throw but I'm not sure since I don't have a pic of how it started I just like it lol

You don't need a picture to imagine how that's gonna end if he means business.

You don't need a picture to imagine how that's gonna end if he means business. Yeah exactly why I want to learn it but it's hard to find a legit Icelandic wrestling school around here lol But I meant a pic of how it starts to see how he got him up there as opposed to bringing him down.

Yeah... Maybe he got him up there the same way you start a suplex but it's called a wheel throw because you send them spinning to the ground rather than slamming them down?

I wanna try judo throws but I'm so scared to use them. I don't wanna look stupid and get my back taken. So I never go for them. Any help!? Lol I don't wanna end up hurting the guy either. I know how to do about 5 judo throws but I've never tried them against someone who's resisting, only repetition/drilling with a Judo student I roll with after class. I'm only 15 and don't wanna have a towering monster collapse on me either!

Judo throws are all about Kuzushi or Off-balancing. if you clinch with a guy you can't just turn and try to throw you have to have him off balance. i highly suggest watching this video and practicing the "rolling" method of off-balancing his opponent and the hand motion Aoki does. www.dailymotion.com/video/x1mv6m_aoki-takedown-from-the-clinch

odee- yeah there are a few wrestling styles in europe that wear some stuff that's gi like. @johnie- you don't really have to worry about getting your back taken if you do it right since judo follows a similar positional hierarchy to bjj but instead of submission to submission it's more throw to submission. if you see a lot of judo throws you'll notice they are in position to drop into a cross arm bar as soon as the other person lands and if you cant get it you are supposed to work for a leg lock and if your throw leads into a choke you can follow up with a neck crank if your choke fails. you might have to wait a while to learn the chokes and neck cranks since most schools reserve them for the dan ranks if they even teach them at all since most judo dojos teach pure sport judo where leg locks & neck cranks are illegal. and once you learn the rolls grappling becomes so much easier.

Some European wrestling that involve jackets like Gi's include Gouren wrestling from France, Collar-and-elbow wrestling from Ireland and Cumberland and westmorland wrestling and Cornish wrestling from England. And I think Scottish Backhold wrestling from Scotland too.
In the late 19th and early 20th centures, Catch wrestling had a lot of success against Judo and BJJ in challenge matches

@gunter- yeah I've seen the celtic wrestling jackets and sweden has a style called schwingen that uses a belt for throwing and turkish yali gures uses a pair of pants most throws are executed from.
if you add it all together you have a european style gi lol
and your right about catch ad santel was world judo champion and beat many high ranking black belts in gi matches which he wasn't even used to and they still couldn't get him in gi holds until yukio mizutani got him in a gi choke I think which wouldn't;t have went down under catch rules.

European wrestling and martial arts like Boxing and Fencing are so underrated is annoying.
A Catch wrestler is the equal of a Judoka or BJJ fighter if all trained equally of course.
In MMA, wrestling is the equal in influence to BJJ IMO.

yeah they are highly underrated because they aren't that popular so the best athletes in the world don't necessarily have access to it like they would bjj or muay thai since they are so much more popular and everywhere meanwhile gouren is practiced by like 300 people in france lol
