Yes this has gotten way off topic. Straying away from the topic is a huge stretch. LOL
There is a little girl that blasphemed against Islam. This is punishable by death. There are people today in Africa that are being killed for being Christians. They know they are being persecuted. Yet they choose to be Christians. They know at any second they might lose their life because of their lifestyles and they still choose the lifestyle. They aren't hiding. They are on Facebook. The Apostles and many of the early Christians because martyrs because of their choices. Many others all over the world became martyrs knowingly that their lifestyles could end in their untimely death.
it may not be reasonable for you to put yourself in that situation, but for many others they will and do. Sexual orientation is only a small portion of people that have suffered any type of persecution because of choices.
Yes we live in a technology advanced society. We have learned much about DNA. We have learned how to switch things on and off in the DNA code. We can clone. But it is not an exact science. It is far from perfect. Cloning was supposed to help us eventually live forever. This would go against the law of God. But science does not need or want God. One problem with cloning is that the clones themselves do not live very long. It can't sustain life. This is due to it being genetically altered. Of course they don't make many reports on this.
As a Christian I believe that what God says is truth. That is I want eternal life I must live according to what God says. I believes he gives us the freedom to choose. We often make bad choices. Hopefully we learn from those choices. According to the bible sex is pleasurable. The bible also say for this cause shall a man leave his mother and father and cleave to his wife. It didn't say anything about leaving father and father or mother and mother. In fact it does say two men or two women is unnatural. It says it is an abomination. It also mention that eventually God will turn them over to a reprobate mind. They will call good evil and evil good.
Back to your point about is not a choice because they would go through that. As a teen I was in LA where the gangs were growing and the feud was between the bloods and crips. This was in the early 80's. It grew even larger after the movie Colors and the media gave it attention. Bloods and crips both move out of LA to other parts of the country in order to sell drugs with less competition so that they could make more money. The media said it was about a color. But in reality is was more about making money selling drugs. But it grew in some areas to be about colors because of they believed the report on the news. So some groups fought because of a color, neighborhood, and or drug territory. Well while there I met some guys that were bloods. They would tell you stories of how many different times they almost lost their lives or the times when they pretended to be dead trying to save their lives. They would openly tell me how afraid they were. But yet they still chose to remain in that lifestyle. Then there were some guys that openly walked through rival territory everyday alone. Knowing this could get them jumped or killed. They weren't being forced to do this. The chose that lifestyle. I didn't understand it so I asked. They had a term for them which I can't remember now But the term meant they liked living dangerously. Most of them don't live long lives. This one guy told us how these guys that they were into it with saw them while they were wearing their colors. They turned around and the started running. These guys opened fire on them. Some of his boys were hit. He hit the ground pretending to be hit. Think they would go away. But these guys got out of the car and began to turn people over making sure they were dead and would shoot them again. He was armed that day, but if they saw him move he knew he was dead. If he didn't move he would still going to die. They got to him and kicked and was about to turn him over. Then they turned and ran to the cars and left. He said he don't know why they left unless they thought the police was coming. You could see the tears in his eyes as relived that moment. You could see the pain, but he was still part of that lifestyle by choice. Many people left the gangs so he could leave. But he made a choice to live or die like that. One day he was killed.
Look at what is going on in Mexico now. They are hanging people and beheading them. But people are still choosing to joining those groups. It doesn't make sense to you or me to join any of those gangs. Losing your life or you family lives is not worth it. But for them it is worth it. Most of them will tell you they don't want their brothers are sister in that life. But they choose that life for themselves. So saying that a person does not choose a lifestyle especially when they know that lifestyle comes with many abuses, ridicule, or harm is not a good argument.
I recall while I was working in this one school. This one boy got beat up all of the time by the boys and girls. One day he asked me to teach him karate. I turned him down. I watched him before he had asked and initially felt sorry I thought of giving him private lesson. But after watching him I saw him instigate and start many of the fights. I saw how he could never walk away from anything even though he knew he was going to get beat up bad. People would warn him, but he refused to listen and got beat every time. His character led me not to train him. On the other hand there was a new kid that was smart. He didn't bother anyone. They would pick on him or beat him up. This is one of the guys that i would train.
Off topic too.
