If I drive my car the way this thread is winding around, I would get a ticket. I'm sure of it. :-)

One gets the idea that neither of us are particularly keen on changing views with this.
I did that once before Possum, I believe they're called doughnuts. No ticket but things got expensive when my tyres shredded and I landed on the rims.

jwbulldogs, I don't think it's a dead horse, the original issue will come up from time to time for most folks in the MA and all the time for those who are gay. So from this perspective, I think it's interesting to hear other people's views. But as to the issue of scripture... yes, I agree people will not likely change their minds - people rarely ever do. odee, cleverly said LOL And as to donuts, I too got caught early in my driving career. I wasn't hotdogging, I was just bored and was making tight circles. I was trying to see how much clearance I had (what would later be identified to me as a turning radius), and I picked a spot too close to a basketball cement stantion. I clipped it with my bumper and found out that bumpers were very expensive.

Bumper or a skirt? Bumpers tend to cost less than $200 depending on the make of the car, skirts on the other hand tend to sit in the $500-$30,000 range.

I guess it was the skirt. It was an '85 chrysler lebaron. the shop quoted me about $1000 which included labor. It was plastic mold, so they had to just rip it out from the rivets and plug a new one in. I was living pay check to pay check, and anything over $10 was expensive. I never did repair it, I later traded it in for another car.

Ouch. Although holding no attachments to a car seems to be the cheapest method about, I have a friend who buys $500 clunkers and never repairs or re-registers them, so far he's about $1000 a year better off than me.

Why should sexual preference be a factor at all in martial arts? You go to the gym/dojo/dojang to train like everyone else there.
I've heard a guy say he didn't want to grapple with a guy because he was gay but was fine grappling with a girl which is pretty absurd to me. There really isn't a difference between two guys grappling with one being gay and a guy and a girl grappling. It's just societies distorted sense or normality.

Personally I do not agree with homosexuality. However, what you do is up to you. If you are in the dojo or anywhere else I would treat you no different. I would show you the same respect as I would show anyone else.
In regards to the blood. Again I would think no different of an open gay person blood and anyone else. HIV is not limited to the homosexual community as once believed. I don't have the stats, but if I recall correctly it is more common in the heterosexual community now. You never know what anyone has. I don't think about those things when I'm training. But I'm glad I'm married and no longer have multiple sex partners. You don't know what you are getting into. I have to trust my wife not to have any other partners than me.

I personally agree with Bulldogs stance on this issue, as a Christian who believes that the Bible is the inspired word of God I would say that I think homosexuality is a sin. Knowing the right thing and not doing it is a sin too, so that makes me every bit as guilty of sin, so I don't harbor any hatred towards gays or think they are evil, I think that they are like me, but with different issues they need to deal with. And I know that this is beating a dead horse, but even though I don't agree with the genetics argument for homosexuality I still don't see how if it was true it would change anything. I'm am genetically wired to want to have sex with any hot female I can, does that make it right for me to abandon a committed exclusive relationship because my genetics want some hot sex? I don't think so.
Once again though, I do believe homosexuality is wrong, but I believe we need to love and show grace to everybody, and if I don't do that I am much worse than any homosexual according to my beliefs and interpretation of the scripture.
I wouldn't have any problems having homosexuals in the same martial arts classes, I would be a total hypocrite if I did.
